Fèis concert raises £868 for the Hope and Faith School

The Tarskavaig Blues Band gave a great concert on 15 August to an enthusiastic audience and raised £868 for the Hope and Faith School in Zambia.

New singing boy Rob Arnold made his debut with his own song about Stornoway, while Peter Piddock led on most of the numbers with style and variety. Gary Mahon played some brilliant blues harmonica, Ian Fellows gave it delicate laldy on the drum machine and Donald MacKenzie accompanied them all on fiddle and mandolin.

Why it is good to reserve ahead!

We have moved Charlie McKerron’s concert to the larger venue of TDC, the main hall in Sabhal Mòr because of demand for tickets. We had already done this with the ‘Las’ concert on 18 August and for Phil and Aly on 20 August. To make sure you get a seat all you have to do is go the event, scroll down, reserve your ticket and pay on the night. OR ring us on 01471 844207, OR send an email to info@seall.co.uk. Yes, there might be tickets on sale at the door, but . . . . !

Our Ghanaian friends with Kakatsitsi blew the dust out of the roof of An Talla Mòr on Friday with an afternoon workshop where 30 locals and visitors, from 6 to 60+, drummed, danced and sang. In the evening the concert opened with the haunting sound of songs from outside followed by an entertaining and eductional night of drumming. Steve Peak, the manager, spoke eloquently about the songs and drummng styles and everyone through themselves into the evening with a passion.
