‘Gaelic on holiday’ Informal welcome and place-names
Scots Gaelic is the native language of this area and you will find it all around you, on place-names, road signs and spoken by many in the community. Come along for an informal introduction to the Gaelic language and culture, and learn a little Gaelic. For complete beginners. Enhance your holiday by better understanding a little of our culture.

Cèilidh Dance
Come along and join in a free Cèilidh dance. Earlier in the evening, students at the College’s Short Courses will have their own event, but at around 9pm the floor is cleared and the doors opened for everyone to come and join in some dancing.

Tormore Community Forest volunteer day
Sleat Community Trust owns and manages the forest in Tormore, 2 miles south of Ardvasar. As well as forestry work, the plans include community paths, environmental work and the development of the fank – the old sheepfold. Local volunteeers meet on the second Sunday of each month and will be delighted to meet like-minded visitors. Any time you can spare much appreciated. Bring gloves, suitable footwear and a packed lunch, if you plan to stay all day. For further information call 01471 844785.
