7.30pm   Concert

Jamie Laval hails from America and is well-known to Scottish audiences through his two previous appearances in the Scots Fiddle Festival and his frequent tours throughout the UK.

Jamie’s masterful command of the fiddle enables him to perform traditional Celtic music with unrivaled pathos and virtuosity. His uncanny, bagpipe-style ornamentation and his fresh, reinterpretation of ancient traditional Highland and Breton music is lauded by critics and aficionados of traditional music. Jamie gave a private performance for The Queen, performed on Dave Matthews’ platinum Some Devil album, and presented a TED Talk on the value of arts and music in our communities.

His current album Murmurs and Drones won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards in the US.

Gaita player Xan Bedoya from Galicia will play an opening set of tunes.
