Mary Ann Kennedy: ‘An Dàn’ Gaelic Songs For A Modern World

with Finlay Wells, guitar

A Skye Gael from multi-cultural Glasgow, Mary Ann Kennedy’s life has been one of music. From a revered tradition-bearer family, the Campbells of Greepe, her earliest memories are of a home filled with song.

After years of writing and recording, she is stepping forward as a solo artist, with two albums reflecting her passion for tradition and fearless engagement with new Gaelic music and songwriting. Her debut solo album is An Dàn (The Song/Destined) – a collection of her original music with lyrics by herself and some of Gaeldom’s greatest poets, including Aonghas MacNeacail and Angus Peter Campbell.

Mary Ann is accompanied by guitarist, composer and producer Finlay Wells.

“An Dàn was worth the wait, it’s a gem of an album.” – Neil MacFadyen, Folk Radio UK

An Dàn – Gaelic Songs for a Modern World was nominated as an Album of the Year at the BBC Alba Trad Awards Dec 2017

The evening will open with a  short set from Ruiridh Cormack, Gaelic song.
