“Full of energy and bold ideas but firmly grounded in the Scottish & Gaelic tradition, Eabhal are one of Scotland’s brightest up and coming bands that continue to evolve our music.” Angus Lyon (Blazin’ Fiddles)

Award-winning trad band Eabhal are a group of talented young musicians from the Highlands and Northumberland.

Eabhal comprise Megan MacDonald, accordion; Jamie MacDonald, fiddle; Nicky Kirk, guitar; Hamish Hepburn, pipes, flute and whistle; and Kaitlin Ross, voice and guitar.

The musicians came together while based on the Isle of South Uist. Playing traditional music from Scotland, Ireland and further afield alongside original songs and tunes, the band draws inspiration from many different cultures.

Eabhal were recently named Hands up for Trad, Battle of the Folk Bands 2018 winners at Edinburgh Tradfest and were nominees at last year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Awards.

Having toured throughout Europe, the band released their debut album, This is How the Ladies Dance, earlier this year.

Tonight’s concert will be opened by young Edinbane duo Archie and Izzy MacLean, on pipes and clarsach.
