SEALL Live Literature: Barbara Henderson | 17 August

Date/Time
Saturday 17 August 2019
3:15 pm - 4:15 pm

SEALL continues its 2019 live literature programme with two days of book-related events featuring talks and readings by Scotland’s Astronomer Royal, one of the nation’s best Scots poets, a celebrated writer and historian and a workshop by a popular historical novelist.

SATURDAY 17 AUGUST 3.15pm
Barbara Henderson – Going Down in History: Writing workshop for all

Historical novelist Barbara Henderson will lead a workshop on capturing time and place in writing.

With children’s novels about the Highland Clearances, Victorian Scotland and a forthcoming novella about 18th Century smuggling to her name, Barbara knows the challenges of capturing the past without alienating a modern reader.

In this workshop, writers and anyone interested in writing will explore genres and experiment with different approaches, generating several brief pieces which can then be developed further in the participant’s own time.

4.30pm
Q&A SESSION WITH MAGGIE CRAIG AND BARBARA HENDERSON
