We’re thrilled to be welcoming Hebrides Ensemble to Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh this February for what's sure to be a special evening of music.
Hebrides Ensemble is one of Scotland’s leading chamber groups, celebrated for their adventurous programming, exceptional musicianship and commitment to bringing contemporary and classical works to life. For over 30 years they have championed new music and reimagined established masterpieces, captivating audiences everywhere they go.
Central to this programme is Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time — a landmark work written during the composer’s imprisonment in a German POW camp. It stands as a testament to hope, faith and the endurance of the human spirit. Its impact has echoed across generations, offering listeners a deeply moving experience.
The Ensemble will also premiere a new work by Arthur Keegan, commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society. Keegan draws on Messiaen’s ideas of eternity and renewal to create a contemporary meditation on fragility, faith and the passing of time.
Together, these two works promise to deliver an exceptional evening. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
