It’s that time of the year again when our short course students can take advantage of a pre-sale promo code before the public sale begins. This year we have two brilliant acts at TDC, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

First up we have Brian Ó hEadhra and Fionnag NicChoinnich (TUE 8 APR) performing songs from the Gaelic, Scots and Irish traditions as well as newly composed material drawing inspiration from music and cultures primarily from the North Atlantic fringe. The duo are often joined on stage and recordings by their two adult children Órla Ní Eadhra and Ró Ó hEadhra.

Brian is originally from Dublin, Ireland and Fionnag is from the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Over the past 25 years, they have performed globally and recorded on many albums with acts such as Anam, Cruinn and Mackenzie, as well as various solo projects including session work, music production, performing on international films, and on game soundtracks. Fionnag NicChoinnich received the Gaelic Singer of the Year award at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Awards 2020 whilst Brian was nominated for the same award in 2019.

The following week Session A9 make a much anticipated return (TUE 15 APR). “Scottish Supergroup” Session A9 are previous winners of “Best Live Act” at MG Alba’s Scottish Traditional Music  Awards.  Their latest album “The Magic Roundabout” was also amongst the shortlist for “Album of the Year” at the 2024 awards.

Each member of Session A9 can also be seen performing with many of traditional music’s most respected bands, including Capercaillie, The Treacherous Orchestra, The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, as well as their own individual ensembles. Fiddle players Kevin Henderson, Adam Sutherland, Charlie Mckerron and Gordon Gunn are joined as always by David “Chimp” Robertson on percussion, Marc Clement on guitar and vocals and Brian McAlpine on piano.
