Three more SEALL autumn / winter shows have been announced and we predict that they will go down a storm!

OVER / AT is pleased to present a brand new work by composer/performer Ailie Ormston on a tour of halls in the North/West of Scotland. This event is presented in partnership with SEALL Events Skye. On the 5th of September, Ormston will be performing at Kirkton Hall in Kyle of Lochalsh. This is a cosy church hall venue with a lot of spirit. During the tour, Ormston will present a new set of work specifically commissioned for this setting. Ormston will perform new music written for a self-contained arrangement of electric guitar and tape(s). Within limited parameters, Ormston has devised routes to explore the scope of this minimal set up by playing with small object interventions, additional speakers, spatiality within the instrumental voices, as well as developing motivic and static melodic lines of music. This all serves the goal of making music specifically for unusual venues. OVER / AT CIC is a trans, non-binary, and otherwise gender-diverse music-making world. Since then, we have commissioned new work, and hosted performances and workshops both online and around Scotland.

Scottish Saxophone virtuoso Phil Bancroft has been making waves with a series of critically-acclaimed releases on his artist-led label- www.myriadstreams.com. One of these features new band, The Beautiful Storm, which breaks new ground in Phil’s rich career, with Indian Tabla demon Gyan Singh and Scottish Guitar alchemist Graeme Stephen. 14 years of study on rhythmic cycles inspired by Indian Classical Music has produced an intoxicating new music, exploring a range of shimmering compositions in a trio of master improvisers. Instilled with a deep understanding of Jazz, Celtic, Western and Indian Classical Music, equal joy is taken in groove and flow, the interplay of metre and cycles, the beauty of melody, the spice of chromaticism, woven into spell-binding musical journeys of rare depth and beauty. They completed a highly-successful debut tour in March this year, and are now visiting Skye for the first time.

Just announced is Face The West. Face The West are an Electro Celtic band from the Isle Of Lewis. The band started out in August 1998 rehearsing in reclaimed Harris Tweed mill buildings. Their first (and could have been last!) gig was at a very stormy village bonfire just outside of Stornoway. The members in Face The West have paid their dues and have a lifetimes worth of gigging experience. This lead them to be nominated for LIVE ACT OF THE YEAR at the 2009 Scottish Trad Awards. Seen performing at some of Scotland’s most prestigious festivals, including the Hebridean Celtic Festival, Tiree Music Festival, Barrafest, Orkney Folk Festival and multiple appearances at Glasgow’s winter festival in George Square to name a few. Face The West have also performed as far from home as Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. After 5 years hiatus, the band are back and are recording a new album. The best kept secret in modern celtic music. Face The West’s apparent enthusiasm and infectious spirit leaves each and every member of the audience buzzing. Not just a band but an intense experience.
